Program Description:

Regarding the fast growing demand in medical fields for greater internationalization, more flexible and student-centered training programs with multi-professional elements are determined to commence a revolutionary approach to train tomorrow's health experts by using the latest advances in e-learning. Although eLearning in medical education course is the only major in its kind in the whole country, but it has a long history as a postgraduate course in most groundbreaking universities such as Athabasca University (Canada), University of Edinburg (UK), University of Maryland, University College, University of Denver. The aim of this course is to train future experts in health with advances in e-Learning. 

E-Learning in medical education is a postgraduate degree (MSc.) which will give students the skills they need to plan, design and facilitate online learning opportunities for applicants in higher education, and to feed the needs of society in the area of e-learning in medical science.

To promote public health and expand the science boundaries, virtual and electronic education is playing an increasing role in medical education and training. Expanding and promoting the science of e-learning, actualizing the use of e-learning in medical education and making scientific ties with other research centers and local/international organizations are major points to achieve. 

Last but not least, it should be noted that the program actualized as a blended learning (partial attending classes along with e-learning delivery). The face-to-face classes in each semester will be offered according to the course structure determined in the Department.It should be noted that all exams will be paper-based.

In general, each semester 12 to 14 units will be offered and the students should take a minimum of 6 units per term. (The Department’s confirmation is needed).

At the end of the program learners will be competent in the following skills necessary to work at professional environments:

Provide professional consolation in e-content development

Implement e-Learning in various contexts in related fields

Provide consultation in instructional design to facilitate online learning in various fields Graduates in this course will be able to take educational responsibilities, conduct research and render consulting services related to e-learning in medical education. 

In education, the graduate may contribute not only not only to e-learning regarding the students ok medical education but may help any university departments who intend to initiate e-learning courses according to their needs. 

In research, they may help design, implement and evaluate basic and applied research in various contexts of the related field.

In providing consulting services, they help design and implement research using standard and ingenious methods. 

Admission Requirements

General Requirement: To apply for this program, you will need to fulfill a number of requirements, which can be found in the Graduate Admission Requirements.

Specific Requiremetns: Degree in medicine, dentistry, Pharmacy, or a B.Sc. /M.Sc. in Management & Educational Planning, or M.Sc. in Educational Management & Environment, or M.Sc. in Educational Management by one of the Iranian or foreign universities.

The eligible candidate should have successfully completed an approved general physician program and should be proficient in English or Persian.

Admission Deadline

Tehran University of Medical Sciences has a rolling application system and reviews student applications all year round.

However, the deadline for the September intake is June 31.
