In case you choose a city where there is no Iranian embassy or consulate, your visa will be sent to a city with an Iranian embassy or a consulate in closest proximity to your hometown.
One important point to bear in mind is that you should make sure that your passport is not expired. Your passport must be valid for at least one year starting from the date of receiving your acceptance email. Your visa will be issued using your passport, so avoid unwanted problems by using a current passport. When your visa reference number is issued, it will be announced to you via email. Please remember that only if you receive this email, you will be able to join us for your accepted program. Please note that this step is skipped for online programs and accepted application can start their registration affairs after receiving TUMS student visa system submission code and should not wait to receive a visa reference number. English Language Proficiency
English Language Proficiency is one of the most important and indisputable requirements for any study abroad program in all corners of the globe.
TUMS accepts both TOEFL and IELTS academic English language scores. Clearly, only one would be enough. TOEFL is the most widely accepted English language test, and IELTS Academic is the International English Language Testing System that measures the ability to communicate in English across language skills (listening, reading, writing, and speaking). Similar to most schools around the world, we interpret the scores as follows:
In order to register at TUMS and commence your studies, you are required to provide a VALID certificate of IELTS Academic with a minimum band score of 5.5 or its equivalent in TOEFL iBT (minimum 69) or TOEFL PBT (minimum 525) at the time of registration. Otherwise, taking English Placement Test is obligatory. These applicants are required to refer to TUMS Intl. College at the time of registration and take the test.
After the placement test, if applicant’s English language proficiency is at appropriate level, he/ she receive Exemption/English Classes’ Registration Certificate. Otherwise, if applicant’s English language proficiency is not high enough to attend in the program’s English classes, he/she is required to pass at least one semester of English language classes at TUMS Intl. College before or during the academic program. This decision will be made based on evaluation and the placement test of TUMS Intl. College , and based on the decision of TUMS Office of International Admissions. Please note that students should attend English language classes at TUMS Intl. College ONLY and are not allowed to do English courses elsewhere.
Persian Language Proficiency
For some programs such as Medicine or Dentistry, knowing Persian language is mandatory. You are required to practice at hospital and visit patients. Therefore, because of doctor-patient interaction, learning Persian language is mandatory. TUMS will arrange your Farsi/Persian learning program and you are required to attend in these classes during your program.
Students in need of learning Persian will attend their relevant courses according to TUMS Intl. College schedule and cannot postpone it or drop the course at any time.
For the Persian classes, students will be placed at the Beginner level by default. Or per their request, they will be given a placement test at the beginning of the language program and the results of this test will determine the course and level they must attend.
