Dr. Marisa L. Wilson DNSc, MHSc, RN, CPHIMS, RN-BC, FAMIA, FAAN is an Associate Professor in the College of Nursing at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, USA. She is a board certified informatician with an interest in health informatics, electronic health records, clinical decision support systems, and health information technology policy implementation. Dr. Wilson has spent over 15 years as a nurse clinician working in acute physical rehabilitation, medical-surgical, and telemetry units. In addition, she has over 25 years of experience as an analyst, project leader, and manager in implementing information systems in public health and acute care settings. Her research interests focus on improving patient outcomes and clinical efficiency supported by technology. Dr. Wilson has published numerous peer-reviewed articles on the use of information management systems in nursing, and she has presented her work at several national and international conferences. She has also taught courses on nursing informatics and health information management at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

In January of 2023, Dr. Wilson was awarded the title of TUMS International Adjunct Associate Professor by the Chancellor of TUMS, for a term of three years.

Dr. Wilson has fulfilled the role of a primary instructor in two international online short courses provided by the School of Nursing and Midwifery, which were titled "Information Management Systems in Nursing" and "The Professional Role of Nursing Informatics". For more detailed information concerning these courses, interested parties are advised to consult the following web links:
