A Memorandum of Understanding between Tehran University of Medical Sciences and Eastern Mediterranean University Cyprus
According to the office of vice Chancellor for Global Strategies and International Affairs’ report, this meeting was held on November 2nd, with the presence of Dr. Arab Kheradmand, vice-chancellor for Global Strategies and International Affairs, Dr. Necdet Osam, the president of the Eastern Mediterranean University Cyprus, Dr. Nekoofar, the director of International Relations, Accreditation and Ranking, Dr. Sharifzadeh, the dean of School of Pharmacy, Dr. Shabani, the director of International Affairs and Development, Dr. Abdollahi, the vice-dean of International Affairs for School of Pharmacy International Campus, Dr. Hasan Amca, the vice president for the Eastern Mediterranean University Cyprus, Dr. Fathi Shin, The dean of School of Pharmacy, Eastern Mediterranean University Cyprus, Dr. Adhami, the representative of the vice-dean of International Affairs for the School of Pharmacy International Campus, Dr. Amin, the advisor of vice-dean of International Affairs for School of Pharmacy International Campus, Murat Akhturagly, the director of the Public Affairs for Eastern Mediterranean University Cyprus, Mr. Nobakht, the international coordinator of these two universities.
Dr. Arab Kheradmand in the beginning of this meeting introduced Tehran University of Medical Sciences and then expressed that Tehran University of Medical Sciences first started its activities with the school of medicine in 1935 and currently has 12 schools, 16 teaching medical centers, 44 libraries and 3 health centers in Tehran. He added that 90research centers, 15 academic poles, 6 research institutions and 5 Technology centers are active in this university.
He also introduced the schools and mentioned that the health deputy of the university with its three health centers supports and helps significant urban and rural population.
Dr. Arab Kheradmand also explained about the international student recruitment and mentioned that since 2011, Tehran University of Medical Sciences has recruited 310 international students from 30 different countries of the world.
In the end, he also talked about the rank of the university in international ranking systems.
The Vice Chancellor for Global Strategies and International Affairs also reminded the audience that in QS ranking system, Tehran University of Medical Sciences has been ranked 201-205 and according to the Times Higher Education Ranking, it has been ranked 501-600.
Mentioning that Eastern Mediterranean University Cyprus has received international accreditation from different accreditation bodies, Dr. Osam Added that this university has signed 150 international memorandums with different universities and research centers in the world.
He also informed the audience that 42,000 students have been graduated from this university since its foundation and added that international students of this university can use student services such as dormitory, library and gyms.
In the end, the memorandum was signed by both universities and the student and faculty member exchange, holding joint workshops, conducting joint researches, publishing papers and holding seminars and international congresses all were put on the agenda of both universities.
