TUMS and KNMU Put into Action Their Signed MoU
In this visit Dr. Nima Rezaei, Vice-Dean for International Affairs of the School of Medicine, Dr. Mohammadreza Khami, Vice-Dean for International Affairs of the School of Dentistry and Ms. Sahar Mohammadian,the international collaborations’ officer of TUMS’ Directorate of International Relations, Accreditation and Ranking visited different schools and departments of KNMU and met with the Officials of the university.
Onthe first day of their visit, December 25th, in a meeting held at the KNMU main campus, the officials of KNMU welcomed the TUMS delegation. After a warm welcome Prof. Valeriy Kapustnyk, Rector of the university, pointed to the great history of medicine in Iran and mentioned that this collaboration would be beneficial for both parties.
KNMU’s Vice-Rector for Research Prof. Valeriy Miasoedov, Vice-Rector for Education Prof. Dmytro Markovskiy, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry Assoc. Prof. Viktor Nikonov, Dean of the II Medical Faculty Assoc. Prof. Maksim Haustov and Dr. Anzhela Stashchak Head of International Relations Office were the attendees of this meeting.
Then, the delegation had a meeting with the head of International Relations Office to discuss the practical points of collaboration. Holding a summer course in 2017 for KNMU students at TUMS and a Triangle model for students of TUMS, KNMU and University of Cagliari in Italy were the main points of this meeting.
Exchange of TUMS students and visit of TUMS and KNMU delegation from the other university are among the future action plans of this collaboration as a result of this meeting.
At 14:00 the delegation visited the University Dental Clinic (UDC) and met with the Director of UDC Prof. Maryna Biriukova. They got familiar with the departments and facilities of this center and had a chance to see how the dental education goes on in KNMU. After the visit, Dr. Khami gave a lecture on “Public Oral Health” for the dental students and Dr. Rezaei delivered a lecture about TUMS for the students and staff of KNMU to get familiar with the TUMS and take the opportunity to visit our university and initiate scientific collaborations with TUMS.
Afterwards, a meeting with top scientists and PhD students of KNMU was held in which the head of Young Scientists’ Council, made a presentation of their council and the way they are ready to collaborate with young scientist of TUMS. During the meeting, some of the top and young scientists delivered scientific lectures in different subjects and Vice-Rector for Research of the KNMU made a short presentation of the activities of this council and showed their willingness to start the practical cooperation. At the end of this meeting Dr. Rezaei and Dr. Khami presented TUMS and Schools of Medicine and Dentistry and expressed their willingness in any kind of collaboration with the council and university. The attendees were provided with the brochures and booklets of TUMS for more information.
Right after the meeting, Dr. Rezaei gave a lecture on “Primary Immunodeficiency Diseases” for Medical faculty staff and students.
Besides visits to KNMU, some cultural entertainments were arranged for the TUMS delegation in Kiev and Kharkiv. The delegation also had a chance to visit two museums of the university. More importantly, Dr. Rezaei, Founder President of USERN, signed two USERN MoUs with the Kiev Pediatric Hospital. Another important event that happened in this visit was the inauguration of USERN office at KNMU; USERN congress will take place in Kharkiv in 2017.
