TUMS Signs MoU with Iraq’s Ministry of Health

On Monday, April 9, 2018, TUMS officials including TUMS Chancellor, Dr. Karimi, had a meeting with a delegation from Iraq’s Ministry of Health at TUMS Headquarters.

To have an overview of Tehran University of Medical Sciences, TUMS officials presented an introduction of the university and the recent achievements in national and international scopes. One-fourth of TUMS international students are from Iraq and planning on future collaborations is a significant matter to both TUMS and Iraq’s Minister of Health.

Dr. Mohammed Jabour Huwail, Deputy Director-General of the Directorate of Public Health of Iraq’s Ministry of Health, expressed Iraq’s willingness towards expanding relations with the university and stated, "As an initial step, Iraq intends to have a group of nurses, doctors and medical staff educated at TUMS."

The meeting came to an end with signing a memorandum of understanding regarding the following issues:

  • Establishing TUMS international branch in Iraq;
  • Providing Iraqi patients with medical services with a health tourism approach;
  • Holding medical and nursing courses; and,
  • Setting up joint conferences and international research projects.
