With the approach of explaining the international activities of Tehran University of Medical Sciences in the region, Dr. Kordi and the delegation visit the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

The Vice-Chancellor for Global Strategies and International Affairs and the delegation traveled to the Kurdistan Region of Iraq to explain the scientific authority of the University in the region, moving toward a resistant economy, and providing specialized services that could lead to financial earnings for the country. From 21st to 24th October, 2018, Dr. Kordi, accompanied by Dr. Hadian, the Dean of the School of Rehabilitation and the Head of the Communications Office for universities and institutes of higher education of Iran and Iraqi Kurdistan, and Dr. Norouzi, the Head of the Communications Office for universities and institutes of higher education of Iran and Iraq, visited the regional academic facilities and capacities in order to seize an opportunity to explain the international goals of the University in this area.

Pointing out the visits to Hawler Medical University, University of Sulaimani, Sulaimani Polytechnic University, University of Kirkuk, and a number of private universities and hospitals in these cities, he stated: "We also had meetings with Dr. Yusuf Goran, the Kurdish Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, chancellors and the boards of directors of the aforementioned universities and discussed the areas of cooperation.

Dr. Kordi also stated that the establishment of a TUMS branch in Sulaimaniyah is one of the most important issues discussed with the Minister of Higher Education of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. He also stated that the issue of the recognition of Tehran University of Medical Sciences and the possibility of medical practice for the graduates of this university in the Kurdistan Region was raised at the joint meeting with the Minister of Higher Education of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

In conclusion, he assessed the trip and visits made during it positively and noted that joint meetings with higher education centers in Kurdistan, such as Sulaimani Polytechnic University, with which previously had not been a possibility of cooperation, led to the signing of a memorandum of understanding in different fields of education and research between the two universities.
