TUMS Directors of Int. Relations Met Zimbabwean Minister
Meeting Dr. Olivia N. Muchena, Zimbabwe Minister of Science and the officials of Zimbabwe embassy in Iran, Dr. Nekofar, Dr. Shabani, and Dr. Hadian introduced TUMS regarding its educational, scientific and research potentials and shared ideas about academic cooperation, student and professor exchange and also recruitment of international students.
Dr. Olivia N. Muchena expressed thanks to TUMS officials for holding a meeting at Esteghlal Hotel, and stated that she has traveled to Iran, having been invited by Science and Technology Deputy of Iran’s President, Dr. Sattari. Zimbabwe is interested in signing an MoU with TUMS for the purpose of initiating educational and research collaborations, she added and hoped that such collaborations improve the relationship between the two countries. Therefore, Zimbabwe embassy in Iran became in charge of pursuing and coordinating commencement of the said relations.
The Minister further asserted that the two countries have different educational systems, and the educational needs should be specified. She also emphasized on Zimbabwe`s interest in student and technology exchange.
Moreover, Dr. Nekoofar said that Iran looked at the imposed sanctions as an opportunity and at present, the country has good confidence as a result. “We have students from many African countries, but not from Zimbabwe, thus we tend to accept students from your country”, he continued.
