The workshop “Practice Development & Patient Safety” was held at the school from March 9, 2015 to March 11, 2015. The keynote speaker of the workshop was Professor Robert McSherry from Teesside University, UK. The workshop was attended by national and international participants from various fields.

International attendees were from the University of Kufa, Karbala, Najaf, and Erbil, Iraq.

On the first day of the workshop, Professor McSherry delivered a presentation which was followed by the attendees’ questions and comments’ and the speaker’s answers.

Later on, Dr. Nygell Topp from Murdoch University, Australia, aided by Dr. Afrooz Najafzadeh, delivered a virtual presentation. At the end, Dr. Topp answered the participants’ questions.

On the second day of the workshop, Professor Salsali presented a lecture on “Advanced Practice Development: Advanced Practice Nursing”. Later on the day, Professor McSherry delivered two other presentations. Both presentations were followed by the participants’ questions and comments which were answered or commented upon by the speaker.

The third and the last day of the workshop began with two presentations by faculty members of the school, Dr. Tahmineh Salehi and Ms. Pourtaghi about clinical governance and accreditation.

Afterwards, Professor McSherry delivered his final presentation. At the end, Professor McSherry was assigned as TUMS distinguished Visiting Professor at the School of Nursing and Midwifery for 2015-18.

In the evening, Professor McSherry and the international participants accompanied a number of Iranian participants visited Children’s Medical Center and Imam Khomeini Hospital’s emergency ward.

The workshop ended in the evening of March 11, 2015.
