Today, the use of traditional and complementary medicine integrated with conventional medicine in the health system is considered as a way approved by the World Health Organization in many countries to promote health. In this regard, different countries have different experiences of how to integrate traditional medicine in their health system. Some countries have been leaders in this integration and their experiences in generalizing these successes for other countries are very important.
Iran, as a country that has one of the oldest and most important types of traditional medicine in the world, called Persian medicine, has successfully developed integration of traditional medicine into the health system in various aspects of education, research, providing medical services and Traditional and natural medicines. Therefore, Tehran University of Medical Sciences, with the support of the Office of Persian and Complementary Medicine at the Ministry of Health and Medical Education of Iran, with the participation of many centers and universities in this field, plans to hold “International Symposium on Policy, Legal and Regulatory Landscape of Traditional and Complementary Medicine” in November this year in Tehran, the capital of Iran.
This event is intended to provide a platform for researchers and officials related to the field of traditional medicine from different countries to exchange their experiences in the fields of policy making, legislation and regulations. This event can provide a good opportunity for stakeholders from different countries to learn from each other in this field. Finally, gathering these experiences and discussions in this symposium will provide an important output for the future of integration of traditional medicines in the national health system of countries.
