Message for Symposium

Dr. Roshanak Mokaberinejad

President, Traditional Persian Medicine Association

Persian medicine is a precious heritage left behind by the valuable experiences, wise efforts and scholarly research of thousands of scientists and sages of the past eras. Just as Persian medicine underwent an evolution from the 9th to the 18th century, this evolution must continue now, and the establishment of Persian medicine schools in Iran in 2008 has been able to create this evolutionary process.

Persian medicine has had many ups and downs in recent decades and has been associated with many agreements and objections. According to the upstream documents in Iran, it is necessary to use the capacity of traditional medicine along with conventional medicine and integrate it into the health system.

Facilitating the integration of complementary medicine in the health system of countries, the rational use of evidence-based complementary medicine and the exchange of experiences are among the strategies of the World Health Organization in this field. Currently, in most of the developed countries, traditional medicine is under the support of the government in various dimensions and it is responsible for an acceptable share of providing people's health in the country's health system. Iran, as one of the owners of traditional medicine in the world, in using all the capacities of this medical school, should facilitate the process of policy-making, regulation, administration and legislation in the field of traditional medicine, and the government's strategies in the direction of development and facilitation of these processes are important.
