Prof. Ali Shirkhoda

Dr. Ali Shirkhoda is a Clinical Professor of Radiology at the University of California, Irvine (UCI). He graduated from Isfahan University in Iran and following a year of internship in New York, completed Radiology Residency at the George Washington University in Washington DC. After a year of fellowship in Body Imaging at UNC in Chapel Hill, he remained there as a faculty for four years and then in 1982, was recruited by The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston as director of Body imaging operations. During the first few years, he published numerous articles on abdominal and pelvic cancer imaging and collected such experience in his first book on “Oncologic Imaging, an atlas and text” which was published in 1987. A year after being promoted to full professor at The University of Texas, he joined the Beaumont Hospitals in Michigan. He also was appointed as clinical professor at the Wayne State and Michigan State Universities and then was a professor of Radiology at the Oakland University, newly established Beaumont School of Medicine. His main areas of interest and practice continued to be Body Imaging and intervention with emphasis on Oncology.
Dr Shirkhoda remained at Beaumont for nearly 25 years during which he developed and directed a very large Body Imaging Division with annual training of seven fellows. Aside from over hundred publications in peer-reviewed journals and numerous book chapters, during his tenure he edited two textbooks, one of which is available in four languages. He has given over two hundred national and international lectures, was appointed a Fellow of American college of Radiology and became a member of several professional societies including Society of Abdominal Radiology where he was honored with a lifetime achievement award in 2013. Dr Shirkhoda moved to California in 2012 and continues to be clinically active as part time at UCI and affiliated hospitals.
Prof. Mahmood Mafee

Dr. Mafee received his undergraduate training in mathematics at Alborz College, Tehran, Iran. He earned his medical degree at the University of Tehran in 1969. He completed his training in radiology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, New York, and the University of Illinois Hospital at Chicago. He then pursued a neuroradiology and head and neck radiology fellowship at the University of Illinois hospital, and Eye and Ear Infirmary at Chicago. He joined the staff of the Department of Radiology of University of Illinois at Chicago in 1977, and remained there as assistant professor and reached the rank of professor in 1985. He served there as director of radiology at Eye and Ear Infirmary, director of MRI center, vice chair and the chair of the department of radiology. In 2005, Dr. Mafee received the gold medal of distinguished scientist, College of Medicine at University of Illinois at Chicago. In 2006, Dr. Mafee joined the Department of Radiology at University of California, San Diego as chief of head and neck radiology, director of residency program and vice chair for education. Dr. Mafee has authored and coauthored more than 150 publications in radiology, otolaryngology, and ophthalmology literatures and has served as visiting professor and invited speaker at innumerable national and international institutions and scientific programs. Dr. Mafee has served as president of the American Society of Head and Neck Radiology (ASHNR) and received the gold medal of ASHNR in 2006. Dr. Mafee was the first head and neck radiologist to be elected to serve as distinguished scientist in the department of Radiologic pathology at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (AFIP) during the 1993-1994 academic year. The distinguished professor position was established in 1983 and supported by the contributions from the ACR, RSNA, ARRS, and Association of University Radiologists. Dr. Mafee is the leading author of a classic Head and Neck Radiology Textbook with its 3rd edition in press shortly in 2021. Dr. Mafee has served as the guest editor of 4 volumes of Radiological Clinics of North America, 2 volumes of Otolaryngologic Clinics of North America, 2 volumes of Magnetic Resonance Imaging and an issue of Operative Techniques in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery. Dr. Mafee has served on the editorial board of the American Journal of Neuroradiology, the Journal of Neuroradiology, the Journal of Operative Techniques in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, Journal of Surgical Neurology, and as the editor of Head and Neck: International Journal of Neuroradiology. He has been invited speaker at Harvard annual Neuroradiology/Head and Neck course over 28 years. Dr. Mafee is a fellow of American College of Radiology and honorary member of International Neuroscience Institute, Hannover, Germany.
Prof. Jamshid Tehranzadeh

Dr. Tehranzadeh completed his Medical school & Radiology Residency in Pahlavi University prior to a completion of a second Radiology Residency at Yale University & passed American Board of Radiology at 1979. He completed MSK fellowship at The Hospital for Special Surgery (Cornell University) at 1980. He has been teaching MSK Radiology in four academic Institutions (WVU, Miami University, University of California and UCLA-Harbor) during the last 40 years. He has received four outstanding teaching awards, two from University of Miami and two at UCI. He has served as chief of Radiology & Nuclear medicine at VA Long Beach California for ten years. He has published 80 peer reviewed articles, over 30 Review articles, four books, 15 book chapters and 96 scientific abstracts. He has been recognized as top Doctor by US News & World report and also by Castle Connolly. He was also named as a leading physician of the World by The International Association of Radiologists. He has received several awards from ARRS and RSNA for scientific presentations. He is on editorial board of Applied Radiology. He has been guest editor of Radiologic Clinic of North America, Seminars in MSK Radiology and Seminar in US, CT and MRI. He has been refresher course faculty at International Skeletal Society and served as member at large in Executive Committee of this prestigious Society. He has been refresher course faculty and moderator for American Roentgen Ray and RSNA. He was American Board of Radiology Examiner for over 20 Years was awarded Life time service award by American Board of Radiology at 2015. He served as an expert on FDA committee for orthopedic devices. He also served as president of Radiological Society of Orange County and North American Iranian Radiology Society. Finally He served as president of Southern California MSK Society and was running the Bone Club for many years. He is currently Emeritus professor of Radiology at UCI and Chief Radiologist at UMIH.
