About Persian Language
Persian is an important language of the Middle East and Central Asia. It is known as Farsi in Iran, and is also the official language of Iran, Afghanistan and Tajikistan, which used to be a lingua franca in Central Asia and the Indian subcontinent for ages. The first evidences of Persian use go back to around 500 BC. Since then it has played an important role in the history of the lands between the Mediterranean Sea and India.
Persian is a language with an extremely rich history, literature and cultural tradition. Moreover, its huge impact on modern literature, Persian has its own prominent place in poetry. Khayyam, Sa’di and Hafiz are only a few of the major figures of this big family.
Moreover, Iranian traditional medicine (ITM), also known as Persian traditional medicine or Iranian traditional medicine, is one of the most ancient forms of traditional medicine.
Two old cousins
Persian and English are old sisters, but they have lived in different countries for a long time. As Indo-European languages, English and Persian have many words in common of Proto-Indo-European origin, and many of these words often have similar forms (that are called “cognates”). Examples of these are: English ‘star’ and Persian ‘setāre’, or English ‘Name’ and Persian ‘Nām’. To these words, we may add so many other words, which have entered into Persian as English loan words.

What will you achieve during these sessions?
By the end of the course you will be able to
- Read all 32 letters of Persian alphabet,
- Write and differentiate between letters (because some of the letters may have similar sounds and some of them may have different sounds in different words),
- Distinguish where to attach letters together (because Persian alphabet is written in somehow cursive form, most of the letters connect with each other except seven of the letters which do not connect with letters that follow them.)

Consonants
Persian consonants are the major characters that form this language. Persian orthography is over-representative with regard to consonants and under-representative with regard to vowels.
Vowels
Persian vowels are easy to pronounce because they are similar to English vowels. In this section, I walk you through all the different vowels.
Syllables in Persian
The syllable patterns of Persian are as follows:
(Here C represents a Consonant, and V demonstrates a Vowel)
CV na (no) , pā (foot), mā (we), se (three), ke (that)
CVC kār (job), xub (good), kam (little), mush (mouse), sag (dog), por (full)
CVCC panj (five), xoshk (dry), farsh (carpet), mosht (fist)
These patterns can be encapsulated in CV(C)(C).
