Nursing And Midwifery

 

The Nursing and Midwifery School of Tehran University of Medical Sciences is the oldest and the most famous Nursing School in Iran that involves various specialized departments. Moreover, it is well-known as a pioneer in the four pillars of nursing (education, research, management, and practice). It has also a main role in the national level for policy making and accomplishing different related activities.  Participation in the international activities is also part of the school's policies (e.g. international students, collaboration, research projects are considered very important). Nursing Education Program in the school was initiated as a two-year hospital-based Diploma and then a three-year Bachelor’s Degree in nursing. While it has been developed steadily over years and resulted in a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs that are offered recently. History of this steady improvement is as follows: Bachelor of Science degree (1963), Master’s degree in nursing (1975), M.Sc. in Midwifery (1988), M.Sc. in Anesthesia (1989), Ph.D. in Nursing (1999), Joint Program of Ph.D. in Nursing with Karolinska Institute of Sweden (2004), Ph.D. in Reproductive Health (2006), Continuing Education in Nursing and Midwifery (2007), Critical Care Nursing-Adult (2008), NICU (2009), and Geriatric Nursing (2011). Our goal is to discover, disseminate and apply up-to-date knowledge through high-quality undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs in an interactive and supportive educational and research environment. The bachelor of midwifery is being performed for the first time in Iraq at Subtain university.
