Department of Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy is a branch of rehabilitation sciences, graduates of which try to assess and diagnose physical disabilities through effective communication with patients. In addition, with the application of physical factors such as light, electricity, heat, etc., and mechanical elements such as practices and different therapeutic movements, they try to solve these physical complications.

 

Physiotherapy is one of the special rehabilitation services that tries to restore health to the society. Graduates, with holistic and community-oriented insight, along with technological growth and increasing human needs, try to coordinate the patients with the environment and society and educate them for preventing the physical disorders.

 

Physiotherapists apply different approaches to solve, treatment, and consult patient needs. They need to have continuous contact with other research and educational centers to update their knowledge.

Department of Audiology

Introduction
The practice of audiology includes the prevention and assessment of auditory, vestibular, and related impairments as well as the rehabilitation and following up the persons with these impairments. The overall goal of the preparing of audiology services should be optimizing and enhancing the ability of an individual to hear, as well as to communicate in his/her everyday listing environment. Therefore, audiologists consider comprehensive services to individuals with normal hearing and those with hearing impairment in order to improve their quality of life. Furthermore, this major includes hearing screening of different populations, diagnosis and rehabilitation of individuals with hearing and balance disorders associated with consultation to these individuals, their families or caregivers. Audiologists who hold a Bachelor’s degree in audiology can work in both general and private hospitals and clinical settings as well as educational and industrial situations.

Graduates are able to screen audiological programs, prevent hearing damage and hearing protection, plan and screen in environments such as industrial centers and military camps, provide Audiology recommendation and education and public awareness about factors affecting hearing and balance disorders, examine and provide behavioral and biological tests to evaluate the performance of hearing.

Department of Speech Therapy

Speech therapy is one of the main disciplines in the field of rehabilitation sciences with the subject of pathology, assessment and treatment of speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders.  During this course, students become familiar with speech, language, swallowing, and their roles and importance in personal and social skills. They study language, swallowing, and learn the methods of evaluating, identifying and analyzing them; in addition, they become proficient in planning and implementing speech therapy methods to improve speech, language and swallowing disorders, and preventing them. Finally, they can help to raise the level of community health by applying relevant knowledge and practical skills.

Speech therapy is a branch of rehabilitation sciences in which graduates of this field can take measures related to the prevention, assessment and introductory speech therapy of speech and swallowing disorders, developmental language disorders and acquired language disorders.

Graduates of this course are expected to be able to:

Perform oral assessments of speech, language, communication, and swallowing status (in the oral and oropharyngeal swallowing phases) and interpret the results.

Determine the developmental age of speech and language.

Design and implement a speech therapy program in language developmental disorders with causes of hearing impairment and mental disabilities.

Design and implement a speech therapy program in aphasia.

Design and implement a speech therapy program for feeding and swallowing disorders (in the oral and oropharyngeal swallowing phases) in infants and children.

Design and implement a basic speech therapy program in speech disorders including: stuttering, voice and laryngeal disorders, speech disorders and motor speech disorders in children.

Use the results of auditory, intelligence, and developmental assessments to assess, diagnose, and treat related disorders.

Department of Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy is a branch of rehabilitation sciences that helps to improve individuals' physical and mental function. Occupational therapy is a type of health care for any activity limitations and participation restrictions in everyday activities such as self-care, productivity, and leisure. It aims to promote or maintain the meaningful and purposeful activities of individuals, groups, or communities. Occupational therapy intervention aims to balance the client's self-care, productivity, and leisure occupations. 

 

The Occupational Therapy program aims to train entry-level occupational therapists who are competent to fulfill professional responsibilities working with clients in a variety of settings, including hospitals, long-term care facilities, rehabilitation centers, nursing homes, mental health clinics, recreation centers, schools, home care, and vocational rehabilitation programs.
