Professional Biography:

Merva Soluk Tekkesin is an Associate Professor of Oral Pathology at the University of Istanbul, Institute of Oncology. She completed her dental school training in 2003, residency in Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology as well as her PhD was completed in Tumour Pathology at Istanbul University in 2010. Dr. Soluk Tekkesin was an overseas training fellow with GDC registration at King’s College London, Guy’s Hospital, and Department of Oral Pathology between November 2009 - April 2010. She was the first Tier 5 International Training Fellow in Dentistry to complete training in the United Kingdom. Dr. Soluk Tekkesin is a fellow of the Istanbul Dentistry Association, Turkish Pathology Society, Federation of Turkish Pathology Societies-Head and Neck Working Group, International Association of Oral Pathologists, British Society for Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology. She was the Secretary of the Local Organising Committee of 17thInternational Congress on Oral Pathology and Merva Soluk Tekkesin DDS, PhD Medicine in Istanbul and the secretary of Head and Neck Working Group in Turkey between 2010- 2014.

On January, 2018 Dr. Soluk Tekkesin was presented with the TUMS Distinguished Visiting Professor Title for the duration of 2018-2020 by oral and maxillofacial pathology department of TUMS School of Dentistry.

During her presence at TUMS, Prof. Soluk Tekkesin had a One-day workshop on odontogenic and bone tumors in oral and maxillofacial pathology department in January, 2018.

 

She presented recently published WHO Classification 2017 of Head and Neck Tumors, regarding the most important alterations. About 20 participants including Dean of the School, Prof. Dr. Rokn, Head of the Department, Dr. Baghaei, Vice-Dean for International Affairs, Dr. Aminishakib participated in the workshop.
