Program Description:
The pediatrics curriculum emphasizes on the unique spectrum of children growth (infancy to adolescence), reviews children’s normal growth and developmental events and nutritional requirements in different ages, and emphasizes the most common diseases affecting children of different ages.
More emphasis is on the role of the primary preventive measures, health education and family consultation, and mental and social aspects of the health and disease. The curriculum further highlights the importance of working as a manager or a member of the healthcare team in harmony with other sectors of the society for health promotion in children, families, and the society.
Definition :
This program deals with the pre-natal to the early adulthood (18 years old). Services of this program involve a broad range of activities in the area of the supply, maintenance, and promotion of health, including the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up, and rehabilitation in that period of life

Some Specific Competencies and Skills: Insertion of all types of catheter; blood sampling from arteries, veins, umbilical vein, and heels of infants; perform a variety of intradermal, subcutaneous, intramuscular, intravenous, and intraosseous injections; perform bone marrow aspiration, lumbar puncture, suprapubic aspiration, and aspiration of pleural effusion, ascites, and articular fluid; perform CPR (Basic and Advanced Life Supports); perform urinary catheterization; blood transfusions (Whole or partial blood); surfactants injection through tracheal tubes; using a ventilator; and, vaccination
At the end of the program learners will be competent in the following skills:
• Insertion of all types of catheter
• Blood sampling from arteries, veins, umbilical vein, and heels of infants
• Perform a variety of intradermal, subcutaneous, intramuscular, intravenous, and intraosseous injections
• Perform bone marrow aspiration, lumbar puncture, suprapubic aspiration, and aspiration of pleural effusion, ascites, and articular fluid
• Perform CPR (Basic and Advanced Life Supports)
• Perform electrocardiography
• Preparation of smears and staining with Gram and Giemsa stains
• Perform urinalysis
• Perform urinary catheterization
• Bone marrow and liver Biopsy
• blood transfusions (Whole or partial blood)
• Surfactants injection through tracheal tubes
• Perform peritoneal dialysis
• Circumcision
• Using Ventilator
• Chest tube Insertion
• Vaccination
• PPD
