Program Description:
The amazing development in orthopedics during recent couple of years is not comparable with 35 years ago when the first orthopedics curriculum was published in Islamic Republic of Iran.
Although Now a days, there are multiple subspecialties in this field which are beneficial for only 10- 15% of orthopedics patients, the remaining 85-90% of patients should be taken care by general orthopedics specialists.
In this program the fields of general orthopedics competencies and skills necessary to manage that 8590% of population needs will be covered.
Objectives:
At the end of the program learners will be competent in the following skills:
Limbs and Spine Physical Exam
Interpretation of Related MRI, CT scan, Bone Scan
Appropriate Management of Multiple Trauma Patients
Fractures Closed Reduction and Pin Fixation
Fractures or Dislocations: Closed Reduction and Operative PIN Fixation
Non Trauma Surgeries:
Trauma Surgeries
Neuromuscular Diseases
Infectious Osteoarthritis
Amputation
Hip and neck of Femur Surgery
Duration:
Program Duration: 4 years
Admission Requirements
General Requirement: To apply for this program, you will need to fulfill a number of requirements, which can be found in the Graduate Admission Requirements.
Specific Requiremetns: Degree in General Physicians (M.D) or Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.B.S.) by one of the Iranian or foreign universities.
The eligible candidate should have successfully completed an approved general physician program and should be proficient in English or Persian.
Admission Deadline
Tehran University of Medical Sciences has a rolling application system and reviews student applications all year round.
However, the deadline for the September intake is June 31.
