Occupational Medicine

 

Department of Occupational Medicine was established in 1994 under organizational support of the Faculty of Medicine – Tehran University of Medical Sciences. As the first and the largest department of Occupational Medicine in Iran, this department utilizes the most advanced and up to date facilities in its multiple centers.

 

 

Program Description: 

Occupational medicine is a clinical specialty which is about to reciprocal effects of occupation, environment and health on each other. The graduates will be involved in diagnosis, evaluation, prevention, management and treatment of diseases and damages related to occupation. They will be able to maintain and promote (physical, mental and social) health.

 

Objectives:

At the end of the program learners will be competent in the following skills:

  • Patch Test
  • Skin prick test 
  • Maintenance at Wakefulness Test 
  • Vo2 max determination 
  • Spirometry 
  • Bronchodilator Challenge Test 
  • Methacholine Challenge Test 
  • Specific Challenge Test 
  • Diffusing Capacity (DLCO) 
  • Peak Expiratory Flow Rate 
  • Plethysmography

 Duration:

 3 years  

Admission Requirements

General Requirement: To apply for this program, you will need to fulfill a number of requirements, which can be found in the Graduate Admission Requirements.

Specific Requiremetns: Degree in General Physicians (M.D) or Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.B.S.) by one of the Iranian or foreign universities.

The eligible candidate should have successfully completed an approved general physician program and should be proficient in English or Persian.

Admission Deadline

Tehran University of Medical Sciences has a rolling application system and reviews student applications all year round.

However, the deadline for the September intake is June 31.
