Family Medicine

 

The graduates will provide comprehensive, continuous First level health care services. This specialty is an integration of different aspects of medical sciences including biologic, psychological, social and spiritual; and render services to genders, ages, races, and those from different socio-economic classes without any discrimination. The gradates, acknowledging economic, social and cultural characteristics of the community, will provide needs oriented services in disease prevention, health promotion , diagnosis, disease treatment, rehabilitation, management, education and research.The program is a combination of clinical and distance learning.

 

 

Program Description: 

According to the dictionaries of Epidemiology“General Health” is the science and art of disease prevention, life Longevity and health promotion through society organized efforts.

General health provision is the responsibility of health system including the spectrum of policy makers to health service providers. Among this group, physicians have the most important role in health service provision, and based on WHO programs family medicine specialists are the cornerstone of health service provision Family medicine program approach is health based, comprehensive responsive holistic Medicine for all families and community. Graduates of the program will provide curative, health protective, preventive services and will promote community health. Nowadays, family medicine specialty is presented in developed and developing countries such as the USA, UK, Canada, Scandinavia, France, and some Middle East countries (Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Qatar, and UAE. In 2010, Islamic republic of Iran   decided to provide this specialty program

Admission Requirements

General Requirement: To apply for this program, you will need to fulfill a number of requirements, which can be found in the Graduate Admission Requirements.

Specific Requiremetns: Degree in General Physicians (M.D) or Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.B.S.) by one of the Iranian or foreign universities.

The eligible candidate should have successfully completed an approved general physician program and should be proficient in English or Persian.

Admission Deadline

Tehran University of Medical Sciences has a rolling application system and reviews student applications all year round.

However, the deadline for the September intake is June 31.
