Medical Laboratory Sciences (B.Sc.)

Laboratory sciences is a branch of medical sciences dealing with the analysis of blood, body fluids, and tissues for the diagnosis of diseases, treatment follow-ups, and keeping people healthy. The educational system of this program is in accordance with the educational regulations of associate degree, continuous bachelor’s, and discontinuous bachelor’s programs.

 

The Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences at TUMS School of Allied Medical Sciences accept students in the program of Medical Laboratory Sciences at the Associate of Science (BS.c.) level. 

Medical aboratory sciences is a branch of medical sciences dealing with the analysis of blood, body fluids, and tissues for the diagnosis of diseases, treatment follow-ups, and keeping people healthy. As a graduate of the medical laboratory scientist, you'll assist physicians and nurses in choosing the best lab tests and ensure proper specimen collection methods. So, you play a vital role in the healthcare system.

 

 

Objectives:

  • Learning the physical principles of machines, devices, instruments and machines used in clinical laboratories
  • Familiar with physical principles and observing the internal parts of clinical laboratory devices and machines
  • Familiar with different sampling methods of and their application in medical sciences researches
  • Perform various biochemical tests of body fluids using routine and new laboratory methods
  • Learning practical microbiology and its application in medical microbiology
  • Learning the definition of humans’ pathogenic parasites and classifying different intestinal and cutaneous parasites, and studying their diagnosis and transmission of parasitic diseases
  • Familiarity with cells and immune system organs, immune responses and familiar with different immunology tests
  • Familiarity with virology laboratory and common methods of laboratory diagnosis of viruses

 

Duration: 

  • 4 years for continuous bachelor’s programs.
  • 2 years for con-continuous B.Sc. of Medical Laboratory Sciences.

Admission Deadline

Tehran University of Medical Sciences has a rolling application system and reviews student applications all year round.

However, the deadline for the September intake is June 31, and the deadline for the February intake is October 31.
