Ph.D. of Addiction Studies

Program Description:

Ph.D of Addiction Studies is a high degree postgraduate education in addictions, with a particular emphasis on recent biological, psychological and socioenvironmental advances in the conceptualization of drug use and addiction and its effective prevention.

This course covers many aspects of professional knowledge in the field of addiction such as medicine, psychiatry, psychology, sociology, anthropology, and economics. It prepare a widely recognized qualification with an integrated multidisciplinary clinical research and the use of new technologies will contribute to the production of science and application of research findings in the field of etiology, biological, psychological, sociological, prevention and treatment of addiction.

Objectives:

  • Study all aspects of addiction from prevention of drug addiction to treatment 
  • Train in a clinical setting to understand the subject in context
  • Design and contribute to relevant research in addiction studies and other related research

Duration:

       Three or four years full-time at two levels of education and research.

Admission Requirements

General Reguirements: To apply for this program, you will need to fulfill a number of requirements, which can be found in the Graduate Admission Requirements.

Specific Requiremetn: Degree in one of the following fields awarded by one of the home or foreign universities:

  • General Physicians (M.D) or Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.B.S.)
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D.)
  • Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S) or Master of Dental Surgery
  • Specialty in Psychiatry or Neurology
  • MSc of Psychology.  

 

Admission Deadline

Tehran University of Medical Sciences has a rolling application system and reviews student applications all year round.

However, the deadline for the September intake is June 31, and the deadline for the February intake is October 31.
