Admitted Student Guide
In case you have received your acceptance letter from the Office of Admissions, let us first congratulate you and wish you a great future in the TUMS family. At your present stage, there are few steps you need to take. Carefully read the information below and follow all the required steps.
Important Notes:
- This acceptance is valid only if the applicant does not hold Iranian nationality during all his/her study, from the acceptance time till the end of the study at TUMS. Otherwise, admission is canceled. Also, if he/she gets Iranian nationality any time during the study and anyhow, his/her registration will be canceled.
- If your course does not meet this minimum number of students, the course will be postponed for the next semester, upon a second notice. We will inform you of the last status of your course through an email containing your visa submission number and registration permission.
Visa Application
First and foremost, you are required to fill out your visa application form (VAF). To apply for your visa, we need your filled VAF. Your VAF is available on your TUMS account within the time period specified in your acceptance email. By clicking on VAF link in your TUMS account, you can fill out the form and submit it to us.
Paying attention to the following points will help ease the process of issuing your visa.

Important Notes:
- Filling out VAF is mandatory for both online and on-campus programs.
- After filling out your VAF, your information will be registered in TUMS student visa system and you will receive a visa submission code that is necessary for registration affairs.
- You are required to determine the city where you would like to pick up your Visa. To do so, you are advised to choose the closest city to your current hometown which houses an Iranian embassy/consulate. This should be a city to which you can easily travel. In case you choose a city where there is no Iranian embassy or consulate, your visa will be sent to a city with an Iranian embassy or a consulate in closest proximity to your hometown.
One important point to bear in mind is that you should make sure that your passport is not expired. Your passport must be valid for at least one year starting from the date of receiving your acceptance email. Your visa will be issued using your passport, so avoid unwanted problems by using a current passport. When your visa reference number is issued, it will be announced to you via email. Please remember that only if you receive this email, you will be able to join us for your accepted program. Please note that this step is skipped for online programs and accepted application can start their registration affairs after receiving TUMS student visa system submission code and should not wait to receive a visa reference number. Generally, entry visas will be ready in 6 to 8 weeks but in some cases, it may take longer time. We will inform you when it is ready so that you can go the embassy/consulate in your city and get it. Please make the necessary arrangements for your program so that after you receive TUMS email regarding your visa reference number, you can join the program on time. TUMS Office of Visa & Consulate Affairs will reply any questions regarding visa affairs. You can contact them directly through consulate-gsia@sina.tums.ac.ir
English Language Proficiency is one of the most important and indisputable requirements for any study abroad program in any and all corners of the globe.
TUMS accepts both the TOEFL and IELTS Academic English language scores. Clearly, only one would be enough. TOEFL is the most widely accepted English language test, and IELTS Academic is the International English Language Testing System that measures the ability to communicate in English across language skills (listening, reading, writing, and speaking).

After the placement test, if applicant’s English language proficiency is not high enough to attend in the program’s English classes, he/she is required to pass at least one semester of English language classes at TUMS Intl. College before or during the academic program. This decision will be made based on evaluation and the placement test of TUMS Intl. College , and based on the decision of TUMS Office of Admissions. Please note that students should attend English language classes at TUMS Intl. College ONLY and are not allowed to do English courses elsewhere.
