Brief Overview
 
University Research and Development Center (URDC) established in 2007 in Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS). This center targeting at promoting evidence informed policy making at TUMS.

 

 

Message from the director
 

Adopting appropriate policies for education, research and health care as well as proper planning and management of resources in medical universities will lead to improvement of community health and also university scientific ranking. Management and policy-making at each level require timely access to valid and comprehensive information on current status, future trends and awareness of scientific evidences. Policies are not implemented only by developing them and in many cases, despite their implementation, the outcomes are different from the expectations of policy makers and other stakeholders. The importance of the topic has led to the establishment of centers for organizational research in many different universities around the world, aimed at improving evidence infonned policy-making through collecting and analyzing data and providing statistics, continuous performance management and conducting research projects to find evidence based solutions for current university challenges. University Research and Development Center is a place that helps Tehran University of Medical Sciences to achieving its goals.

 

 

Mission
 
  • Providing evidence-based policy options for the important issues of the University using scientific methodology, considering the TUMS context and key stakeholders' options.
  • Adapting and introducing context specific performance management approaches and methods for quality improvement in TUMS.
  • Conducting and analyzing faculty, staff and students' opinion surveys about key issues.
  • Developing, monitoring and evaluating long term development and operational plans for TUMS with collaboration of key stakeholders;
  • Foresighting and affecting the TUMS policies and programs in order to take advantage of future opportunities and to control threats in order to achieve TUMS vision.

URDC intends to become the main reference for providing scientific evidence and consultation to TUMS policy makers and managers in order to support TUMS to achieve its vision and objectives.
