The Impact of Climate Change on Mental Health and the Future of the Young Generation: Lecture by Dr. Omnia El Omrani, Vice President of the Global Climate Health Alliance at the International Symposium on Climate Change and Health
As part of the International Symposium on Climate Change and Health, hosted by the Center of Excellence for Global Health at Tehran University of Medical Sciences, Dr. Omnia El Omrani, Vice President of the Global Climate Health Alliance, discussed the profound impact of climate change on the physical and mental health of the younger generation.
She warned that only 17% of the global climate and development goals are on track to be achieved by 2030, and that the new generation faces the greatest risks—from rising anxiety and forced migration to health disorders and the collapse of healthcare services.
Dr. El Omrani emphasized that the solution lies in comprehensive policymaking, the development of clean energy, environmental education, and the active participation of youth.
Highlighting the pivotal role of the region and young people, she noted: “The future of our health depends on collective action and sustainable changes.”
