International Webinar on Systems Thinking in Global Health Held
The Center of Excellence for Global Health at Tehran University of Medical Sciences held an international webinar entitled “An Introduction to Systems Thinking for Global Health Systems Research” on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, with the participation of researchers and global health professionals. The keynote speaker of the webinar was Dr. Aku Kwami, Senior Technical Officer at the Alliance for Health Policy and Systems Research, affiliated with the World Health Organization (WHO).
At the opening of the session, Dr. Amirhossein Takian, President and Founder of the Center of Excellence for Global Health, highlighted the increasing complexity of global health challenges and underscored the necessity of moving beyond linear approaches toward systems thinking, emphasizing its critical role in the design and implementation of effective health system policies.
Subsequently, Dr. Kwami elaborated on the core concepts and principles of systems thinking, introduced innovative research methodologies in health systems research, and discussed their significance in supporting evidence-informed and well-grounded decision-making by policymakers.
The webinar featured active engagement from participants and an interactive question-and-answer session. The presence of a representative from the World Health Organization was regarded as a meaningful step toward strengthening scientific diplomacy and enhancing the international standing of Tehran University of Medical Sciences.
