Present at this meeting were TUMS Chancellor, Dr. Jafarian, TUMS Vice-Chancellor for Global Strategies and International Affairs, Dr. Arabkheradmand, UT President, Dr. Nili Ahmadabadi, and UT Vice-President, International, Dr. Ghahremani.

In light of the fact that the two universities aim to achieve recognition for their capabilities and productivity in international higher education landscapes, the two parties are keen to establish an international cooperation network. Such a network, according to the signed letter of intent, will enable the two leading Iranian universities to enhance their international academic and research ventures, develop their cross-border relations with foreign higher education institutes, increase the quality and quantity of their international higher education practices, develop their potentials for international student recruitment and capitalize on their scientific research potentials.

According to Dr. Arabkheradmand, there have been on-going talks between TUMS and UT revolving around the necessary steps in the international higher education setting based on the needs of forming a comprehensive university.

Emphasizing the elimination of the gap between these universities concerning their belonging to two different ministries, Dr. Arabkheradmad stated that establishing interdisciplinary programs and joint research projects are effective ways of diminishing this distance.

TUMS Chancellor, Dr. Jafarian, stated that such collaborations will pave the road and enable both sides to enjoy the benefits of their joint capacity. “Achieving the objectives of the two universities requires a joint product that is quite distinguished in the international arena,” said Dr. Jafarian.

In the following, UT President acknowledged international research endeavors as significant practices, adding that international collaborations prepare grounds for economically strengthening the two universities and promoting them in the domestic and international arenas.

At the end of the meeting, Dr. Arabkheradmand and Dr. Ghahremani signed the letter of intent, commencing what will hopefully become a long-term and productive cooperation.
