Commenced at 4 p.m. with a reception for all guests, the program of the day began with speeches from various high-ranking officials who had come to see off the most recent group of TUMS graduates.
After primarily congratulating the families of the students for their support, Dr. Jafarian congratulated the students and urged them to direct their attention towards the path that lies ahead. Focusing on the history of the university and that of the country, he briefly discussed the important role of all academicians and students regarding the preservation and promotion of such a legacy, and he urged students to look for ways of overcoming hardships and problems instead of giving in to them.
Dr. Larijani, wishing all graduating students good luck on their future endeavors, put emphasis on the significant growth of the Iranian higher education system in the field of medicine and expressed hope that TUMS can maintain its position as the flag bearer of change and improvement regarding internationalization in the areas of health and medicine.
Dr. Hashemi also said a few words on the stage, considering the graduation ceremony only as a part of an on-going academic career. He stated that a true scholar cannot graduate from his or her academic career, and such an individual always aims to serve all people to the best of his or her ability.
Afterwards, short video clips containing congratulatory messages from all heads of TUMS Schools were played. Moreover, faculty members and graduating students notable for their academic and research contributions in the recent years came one by one on the stage, received their recognition awards, and were hailed by the audience.
At the end of the ceremony, students stood up in unison, took their oath as the newly-graduated scholars of TUMS, and threw their hats off in celebration of ending one chapter and starting another in their careers. To finish off the event, popular singer Mazyar Fallahi and his band came up on the stage and gave the students a well-deserved farewell by their live performance.
