International Students’ Two-Day Academic and Recreational Trip to Kish Island
As part of their trip, students participated, on the first day, in a thorax and abdomen dissection workshop arranged for 1st and 2nd semester M.D. and D.D.S. students. Under the supervision of TUMS faculty members and Ph.D. students, the attendees became familiar with the skin and fascia removal process and dissection sequences. The aim of this workshop, which continued well into the afternoon, was to make future doctors familiar with various incision techniques, practicing said techniques, introduce them, in detail, to the heart and abdominal regions of the human body, and studying pathological signs of a cadaver.
On the second day of the trip, workshop presenters and participants gathered for a summarization meeting, and all students who attended the workshop received the certificates of participations.
With the academic program of the trip concluded, the rest of the time was spent on leisure and sightseeing activities. Students visited Marjan Beach Park, the ancient town of Harireh, and the stranded Greek ship. Also, popular local leisure activities such as beach-side cycling, boating, and paragliding were not overlooked.
The emphasis of this trip was on experiential learning, and it offered both group and self-directed activities that enabled participants to closely study new techniques and ways of dissection, while enjoying a well-earned leisure time.
