The opening ceremony of the Higher Education Cooperation Conference (HEPCON) was held on Thursday, August 29, 2024, with the presence of Dr. Ganefri, President of the Indonesian University Rectors Forum, Dr. Hendayana, Head of the Higher Education Cooperation and Public Discourse Unit of Indonesia, Dr. Mohammad Boroujerdi, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Indonesia, and a number of other Indonesian officials.

In this ceremony, Dr. Boroujerdi delivered a speech titled “Opportunities for International Students to Study in Iran,” and Dr. Arman Zargaran, Director of International Affairs Development at Tehran University of Medical Sciences, also presented his speech on introducing Tehran University of Medical Sciences and its scientific capabilities, explaining the opportunities for international students at this institution.

The Iranian scientific advisor in Southeast Asia and the directors of the education and international student recruitment departments of the participating universities were other speakers at the opening ceremony.

Simultaneously with the mentioned conference, the Indonesia Global Higher Education Exhibition also started on August 28 in Medan and will continue until September 4 in three cities: Jakarta, Surabaya, and Denpasar.

On the sidelines of this exhibition, the Director of International Affairs Development at the university said: Tehran University of Medical Sciences, along with universities from various countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Italy, Switzerland, the UK, and Australia, participated in the Indonesia Global Higher Education Exhibition.

Dr. Zargaran described the reception of Indonesian students and pupils at the university’s booth as remarkable and stated: Tehran University of Medical Sciences is moving forward with a clear and specific plan in the path of marketing to attract international students.

He considered one of the most important strategies for attracting international students to be maintaining traditional markets and reaching new target markets, and stated: So far, 12 students from Indonesia have been admitted to Tehran University of Medical Sciences, and we hope that participating in this program will not only create the possibility of admitting new students but also lead to the development of academic cooperation with other participating universities.

It should be noted that Mir Mohammad Reza Seyed Hasani, an expert in the International Recruitment and Marketing Department of the International Vice-Chancellor’s Office, accompanied Dr. Zargaran in this international event.
