Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) and Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University held a meeting during the Education and Career 2024 Exhibition in Almaty to strengthen academic collaboration. Discussions focused on formalizing a memorandum of cooperation, exploring faculty and student exchanges, and joint academic programs, marking a significant step toward enhanced partnership.

On the sidelines of the Education and Career 2024 Exhibition held in Almaty, Kazakhstan, in November 2024, Dr. Ahmad Ali Hanafi-Bojd, Head of the Marketing and International Recruitment Department at Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS), met with Dr. Kuanysh Karibayev, International Director of Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University. The meeting was also attended by Mr. Aghazadeh, Cultural Attaché of Iran in Kazakhstan.

The discussions focused on formalizing a memorandum of cooperation between the two universities, aiming to foster academic exchange and collaboration. Both sides agreed that delegations from each university would conduct reciprocal visits to explore further opportunities and assess potential areas of partnership.

Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University, established in 1930, is one of Kazakhstan's leading medical institutions. Renowned for its rich history and academic excellence, the university offers a wide range of medical and health sciences programs. It has earned a notable position in international rankings, placing 351-400 in the QS Asia Rankings for 2024. The university is committed to advancing medical education and research and has established collaborations with prestigious institutions worldwide.

Dr. Hanafi-Bojd highlighted TUMS’s extensive educational and research capabilities, emphasizing its international reputation and the diverse student body, which includes over 2,000 foreign students from 51 countries. He expressed TUMS's keen interest in faculty exchanges and the organization of joint academic programs.

Dr. Karibayev noted Asfendiyarov University's commitment to international collaboration, emphasizing its existing partnerships with various global institutions. He expressed a strong interest in enhancing cooperation with Iranian academic centers, particularly TUMS, in areas such as faculty and student exchange programs.

Mr. Aghazadeh, the Iranian Cultural Attaché in Almaty, underscored the importance of strengthening scientific and educational ties between Iran and Kazakhstan. He highlighted the readiness to facilitate initiatives like faculty and student exchanges and specialized training courses, acknowledging TUMS's pivotal role as a leading scientific institution in Iran's international academic landscape.

This meeting marked a significant step toward fostering deeper educational and research collaboration between Tehran University of Medical Sciences and Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University, promising mutual benefits and academic growth.
