AI Predicts What Impacts How Long You Live—And It’s Not Just Healthcare

Can artificial intelligence help us live longer—and more equally? A new study says yes. Researchers have developed a smart system using AI and machine learning to analyze public health data and figure out why some people live longer than others. Surprisingly, it's not just about hospitals or doctors.
The study looked at global data from 2000 to 2020 and tested several AI models to predict life expectancy. It found that money spent on health, government investment, and economic strength (like GDP) play a big role. Using these insights, the team created a tool that can help governments and health officials make smarter decisions to reduce unfair health gaps.

Main Findings:

  • AI and ML (Machine Learning) can successfully identify social factors that affect life expectancy.
  • Key predictors of life expectancy include:
    • Current health spending
    • Government health expenditure
    • Gross Domestic Product (GDP)
  • Best AI Models Used:
    • Linear Discriminant Algorithm for classifying key factors
    • CHAID model for predicting actual life expectancy values
  • The CRISP-ML(Q) framework proved effective for integrating ML into health systems.
  • The approach supports better, data-driven policies for reducing health inequities.
