Gaucher Disease" Book by TUMS Faculty Published by Springer

A new book titled Gaucher Disease, authored by Dr. Parastoo Rostami, Associate Professor of Pediatric Endocrinology and Metabolism at Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS), has been published by the prestigious academic publisher Springer. The book, developed in collaboration with researchers from TUMS’s Children’s Medical Center, the Endocrinology and Metabolism Research Institute, and faculty at Isfahan and Mazandaran Universities of Medical Sciences, serves as a concise yet comprehensive guide (68 pages, seven chapters) for diagnosing and treating Gaucher disease—a rare inherited metabolic disorder with higher prevalence in regions like Iran due to consanguineous marriages. Dr. Rostami emphasized the importance of international publishing to raise global awareness, noting that while such conditions are rare worldwide, localized research and collaboration can improve patient outcomes. With Springer’s global reach, the book aims to provide clinicians and researchers with updated diagnostic and therapeutic insights, reinforcing Iran’s role in advancing rare disease research.
