The Professional Society for Health Economics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR) Granted the ISPOR-TUMS Student Chapter the Outstanding New Student Chapter Award
These awards are granted each year in recognition of the work that has been done to develop the ISPOR mission to promote decision-making in health policy.
According to the announcement, the Iranian student chapter, which started its activities in March of 2009, won the Outstanding New Student Chapter Awardee of 2019-2020. Winning this is an honor for TUMS and also for the health fields in the country.
The core of the Iranian student chapter, which is formed out of the assistant professors at the Department Of Pharmacoeconomics and Pharmaceutical Management of the TUMS School of Pharmacy, during its one year of operation, has been able to take valuable steps in developing health policy and economics and to create an attitude on this axis in health decisions across the country for medical students.
Among the measures taken by this group last year, the following can be mentioned:
- holding several workshops in seven different universities of the country,
- holding several educational webinars,
- holding centralized journal clubs and specialized sessions with more than 350 participants including the ISPOR senior scientific official along with the country's main health policymakers to introduce the top ten models in world health policy.
It is worth noting that out of 140 active student chapters in the world, three universities from the United States have won the Best Chapter Award, some universities from Colombia, India and Ukraine have won the Best Chapter Awards in Low & Middle-Income Countries, TUMS from Iran has won the Best Newly Founded Chapter Award, and two universities from Malaysia and Canada won the Best Collaboration Award from this international association.
This is the first time that the name of our country shines among the elected members of this prestigious international association.
