The signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding was held virtually in the presence of Dr. Kazem Naddafi, Dean of the School of Public Health, and Dr. Garshasb Mozaffari, Secretary General of the Asian Mayors Forum on September 12th, 2020.

 

In this virtual meeting, Dr. Mozaffari emphasized the necessity of the issue of livable cities and resilient cities and reminded that the TUMS School of Public Health can help Asian cities achieve this goal through its scientific cooperation. He added: "With the foundation provided in the Asian Mayors Forum, international research can be developed and implemented with Asian cities."

 

Then Dr. Naddafi said: "Today, cities are facing many problems, including environmental issues such as air pollution, and the TUMS School of Public Health with its experience and knowledge can help in solving these problems in Asian cities." He also expressed hope that the MoU would provide a platform for training courses as well as international research.

 

In the end, Dr. Takian, the Vice Dean for International Affairs of the TUMS School of Public Health, pointed out the faculty's capabilities in the areas of health services management, health policy-making and disaster management.

It is worth noting that the Asian Mayors Forum is an organization that has been formed with the cooperation of more than one hundred Asian cities from different countries such as Iran, Turkey, Lebanon, Palestine, China, Thailand, etc.
