TUMS, University of Lahore and Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Iraq arranged a joint COVID-19 Virtual Fellowship Course
It was a fellowship program with stand-alone lectures and panel discussions with a typical duration of 1-2 hours, targeted health workers with MD, MBBS, MPhil, PhD, Master of all basic and clinical sciences and health practitioners.
The joint program covered several course titles, related to COVID-19, such as Radiology, Epidemiology, Inpatient Management (Emergency), Triage, Clinical Laboratory Diagnosis, Immunology, Outpatient Management, Special Groups (Pregnant Women, Children and Elderly), Evidenced Based Drug Therapies, and Psychiatry. The fellowship was rated “Excellent” by the majority of the participants.
It was approved and commissioned by Dr. Ramin Kordi (Vice-Chancellor for Global Strategies and International Affairs), Mr. Awais Raoof (Chairman BoG, UOL) and coordinated by Dr. Ahmad Reza Akhavan Sarraf (Associate Professor, FAHS-UIRSMIT, UOL) and Dr. M. Hossein Nicknam (Director of the program, TUMS Immunology Professor) as focal persons. It is worth noting that University of Lahore is the leading Private Sector University in Pakistan.
The program on TUMS side was executed by Dr. Vahid Ziaee (Vice Dean of International Campus Educational Affair), Dr. AmirHossein Memari (Director of International Affairs and Development) and Dr. Fateme Haji Ali Asgari (Director of Electronic Internationalization). Involved TUMS staff were Ms. Abdolahi, Mr. Maghsoud and Mr. Moghaddam.
Renowned professors from TUMS including Dr. Hossein Ghannati (Radiology Professor), Dr. Payman Salamati (Social Medicine Professor), Dr. Ehsan Karimialavijeh (Emergency Medicine Assistant Professor), Dr. Hooman Hosein-Nejad (Emergency Medicine Associate Professor), Dr. Mohammadali Boroumand (Pathology Professor), Dr. M. Hossein Nicknam (Immunology Professor) and Dr. Ladan Abbasian (Infectious Diseases Associate Professor) covered timely topics about COVID-19 pandemic. They presented COVID-19- based different subjects on Radiology, Epidemiology, Inpatient Management (Emergency), Triage, Clinical Laboratory Diagnosis, Immunology and Outpatient Management, respectively.
Dr. Sedigheh Hantooshzadeh (Professor of Perinatology) and Dr. Mahsa Naemi
(Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology) both facilitated the audience
on “COVID-19 in Pregnant Women”. Also, Dr. Shima Raeesi (Assistant Professor of Geriatric Medicine) and Dr. Behdad Gharib (Assistant Professor of Pediatrics) presented on “COVID-19 among Children and Elderly”. Dr. Malekfarhad Malek (Assistant Prof of Psychiatry) presented on “COVID-19 Psychiatry” and Dr. Toktam Faghihi (Associate Professor of Clinical Pharmacy) facilitated on “COVID-19 Evidenced Based Drug Therapies”.
The participants granted certificate of participation for every session and a certificate of completion in case of passing 10 sessions.
