Students of TUMS International Campus in Kish Island conduct the third USERN-TUMS scientific mini talk on the subject of AIDS.

This event, which was held on the 23rd November, 2018, was aimed at creating awareness among the students and staff on the issues of AIDS as a global challenge. This mini talk was conducted together with Iranian Red Crescent Society who also gave a lecture on the topic of discussion.

 

The definitions of AIDS, its physiopathology, signs and symptoms, pandemic, prevention, and treatment were among the topics discussed at this event. The awareness event was carried out in both Persian and English for the benefit of native and international students. This event did not only help the students, together with the Red Crescent Society, to create awareness but also gave both parties the opportunity to put resources together and work closely in addressing global health crises.

Speaking at the event, the chairperson, Hajir Adnan, elaborated on the importance of creating awareness in disease prevention and health promotion. She mentioned that the students of TUMS International Campus in Kish Island are committed to working very hard in creating health awareness events among the locals of the Island via networking and involving other university students and student societies in the mini talks and other activities such as debates. She thanked the administration of Tehran University of Medical Sciences for the many great opportunities they have provided for students and kindly requested their continued support for the forthcoming scientific mini talks at the International Campus in Kish.
