Graduation Ceremony for International MBBS Students, December 31, 2022
The graduation ceremony of MBBS international students was held in the presence of Dr. Mohammad Hossein Ayati, International Vice-President of the university.
This ceremony, which was held on Saturday, December 31, 2022 at International Campus of the university,
Dr. Seyed Mahdi Rezayat (Deputy for Educational Affairs, Int’l Campus),
Dr. Omid Aminian (Head of School of Medicine, Int’l Campus),
Dr. Reza Yazdani (Head of School of Dentistry, Int’l Campus),
Dr. Arman Zargran (Director of Int’l Affairs and Development),
Dr. Sara Pourshahidi (Director of Educational Affairs),
Dr. Seyed Mojtaba Daghighi (Deputy of Research, Int’l Campus),
Dr. Seyed Reza Hosseini Sedeh (Executive Advisor to the Vice-Chancellor for Global Strategies and Int’l Affairs),
Dr. Jebraeil Nasl Saraji (Advisor to the Deputy for Educational Affairs, Int’l Campus),
Dr. Nasrin Dashti (Director of Educational Affairs, Int’l Campus),
Dr. Shokooh varee (Director of Educational Development Office, Int’l Campus), and a number of university professors were also present.
At the beginning, Dr. Ayati, Vice-Chancellor for Global Strategies and Int’l Affairs, expressed his pleasure to be in the group of international students of the university: “Today is an opportunity to congratulate all of you students for the great job you have accomplished. Studying at the field of medicine, which is related to human life, is considered as a big, difficult and of course, priceless task”.
Addressing to the students, he also stated: “You left your country and family to study science, which is a sweet and difficult task and also at the same time a great effort. Therefore, I congratulate all of you for this endeavor”.
Vice-Chancellor for Global Strategies and Int’l Affairs also drew students' attention to the category of medical ethics and mentioned: “As a respectable doctor, do not deviate from the high goals of this profession and always make time for your patients, since the value and importance of providing appropriate and efficient treatment cannot be compared with material issues. The audiences of doctors are human beings, so consider human dignity first”.
At the end, he specified that: “The university, that you international students have chosen to study, is a large complex with more than 170 years of experience”.
He clarified: “Tehran University of Medical Sciences was founded by Amir Kabir. It has taken the first place in education, research and new technologies among all medical sciences universities of the country”.
While wishing success to the students in all stages of life, Vice-Chancellor for Global Strategies and Int’l Affairs said: “The international section of the university made every single effort to provide a favorable and suitable environment for the study of international students. Hope you will forgive us for our shortcomings and leave the university and Iran with a pleasant memory”.
Later, Dr. Rezayat presented a report on the status of international students and stated: “Currently, more than 1,300 international students are studying at Tehran University of Medical Sciences. This collection is in a good position; both in terms of the quantity and diversity of the countries that accept international students with a considerable distance compared to other universities”.
Deputy for Educational Affairs, Int’l Campus added: “In terms of distribution, more than 56% of international students studying general medicine program at the School of Medicine, and in terms of gender, there is no significant difference between the number of male and female intl students”.
He stated that till date, 509 international students have graduated from the university and added: “About 80 of them are MD and MBBS graduates from 12 countries”.
Dr. Porshahid mentioned: “I hope international students will leave Tehran University of Medical Sciences with a bag, full of good and lasting memories”. The Director of Educational Affairs hoped that the scientific and cultural connection of these students will be maintained with the university after graduation and wished them success.
In addition, Dr. Aminian considered the education of international students and their graduation as a result of team work and cooperation of different departments at the university level and thanked managers, staff and officials of the international campus, especially at the School of Medicine and Int’l Educational Affairs.
Head of School of Medicine, Int’l Campus added: "I am very happy that today we are witnessing this ceremony for the students who were selected at TUMS Int’l Admission Committees, among a thousand applicants and of course were the best”.
Referring to the connection of the international section of the university with international students, who have graduated so far, Dr. Aminian stated: “some of these graduates are currently studying at higher levels, here at TUMS or in other big universities of the world”.
Head of School of Medicine, Int’l Campus noted that, relying on the capacities of the university, there is this readiness to accept international graduates at higher levels.
At the end of this ceremony, Samin Fathima, Seyed Fazeh Betul Zaidi and Seyed Haniyeh Betul Zaidi were honored as the best MBBS graduates.
Also, with the presence of the Vice-Chancellor for Global Strategies and Int’l Affairs and other vice presidents and managers, the Letter of Oath for medical students was read and the students' graduation cake was cut.
