Cancer Research Center affiliated to Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) hosted the International Workshop on Cervical Cancer Prevention in the Low Incidence Countries in October 2-4, 2012, in Tehran, Iran. The workshop which was organized by TUMS Cancer Research Center and Cancer Institute of Iran in collaboration with Union International Cancer Control) UICC) and Karolinska Institute, aimed to overview global burden of cervical cancer and its prevention worldwide, to discuss the latest evidence about HPV infection and HPV vaccination, to share experiences on cervical cancer prevention strategies in the low incidence countries, to present and discuss suggested frameworks for cervical cancer prevention in Iran and other low risk areas ,to identify policy implications for HPV testing and vaccination to provide opportunities for networking, partnership and collaboration among participants from various disciplines and countries in the region.


The honored international lecturers are:


• Professor Ole Mogensen, full professor of gynecologic oncology at Odense University in Denmark (Natural History of Dysplasia & Cervical Cancer)
• Professor Par Sparen, professor of Medical Epidemiology at Karolinska Institutes in Sweden
• Professor Elizabeth Weiderpass , professor of Medical Epidemiology at Karolinska Institutes in Sweden
• Professor Lone Laursen, professor at Odense University in Denmark
