Clinical Governance is a systematic approach to maintain and improve the quality of patient care within a health system. In this context, the First International Congress on Clinical Governance and Patient Safety {http://hecg.tums.ac.ir/en/?current=page&content=1158} took place on 26-27 January, 2013 in Iran.

Since clinical governance is a system through which healthcare teams are responsible for the quality, safety and satisfaction of patients in delivered care, the Congress aims to share the latest scientific achievements in the field of clinical governance and patient safety implementation among professors, experts and specialists of universities and research centers both inside and outside of the country. The other objective of the Congress is to confirm the scientific position of Iran as a pioneer country in the region for implementing clinical governance as the best pattern of quality improvement.

 

Iranian model of clinical governance contains: Clinical Effectiveness, Risk Management, Clinical Audit, Patient & Public Involvement, Staff & Staff Management, Use of Information, and Education & Training.
