TUMS International Students Admission Process, on the Table of Ambassadors' Meeting

Since the international meeting of Norooz celebration took place with the presence of TUMS authorities and ambassadors, Dr. Enayat Shabani; director of International Affairs & Development for Global Strategies & International Affairs (GSIA) declared that more than 5000 applications have been sent to GSIA Admissions Office.

Dr. Shabani stated that TUMS accepted its first international student years ago and since then TUMS has trained hundreds of international students.  "To facilitate the admission of international students, TUMS has decided to take measures and after years of evaluation and subtle decision making, the systematic process of recruitment and admission began in July 2011", Dr. Shabani noted.
"In early July 2011, the Online Application Form was on the website, in September 2011 the first student from Iraq started her studies at TUMS and today we are hosting students from different countries and we are looking forward to welcoming more students", he added.
Giving information about studying at TUMS, tuition fees, accommodation, international students' weblog, Dr. Shabani elaborated on the process of admitting international students which contains sending the applications and documents to the Primarily Review Council, checking the applications, forwarding the applications to TUMS Admissions Committee. Till now 5015 applications have been received by TUMS Office of International Student Admission, 1809 were considered for evaluation and finally 256 applicants were admitted.
“Three types of scholarships can be offered to international students on the basis of their merit and needs. According to the type of the scholarship, international students can achieve free accommodation (Type C), free accommodation and tuition waver from 0 to 100 percent (Type B), and free accommodation, tuition waver and stipend (Type A).  It should be noted that the international students should try to do their best because the scholarships are re-evaluated every year and only the students with good performance can extend their scholarship to the next year", he iterated.
“International students are studying at different levels:  35% of them are studying at PhD level, 26 % at MSc level, and 21% MPH for those the official language of instruction is English.  However; there are free Persian Language courses for international students", Dr. Shabani, added.
Finally, Dr. Shabani ended his lecture by saying that TUMS with its international students from Myanmar, Sudan, Uganda, Ghana, Ethiopia, Palestine, Pakistan, Turkey, Sweden, Somalia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kenya, Nigeria, India, is always on the qui vive to welcome students from all around the world.
