Breast Cancer Awareness Mini Talk at Kish Intl. Campus

On 18th October, 2018, students of TUMS’s International Campus in Kish Island conducted a mini talk presentation about breast cancer in order to create awareness about this disease and to develop intellectual and critical skills for further research in this field.

The definition of cancer, its risk factors and how to lower those factors, and its screening and treatment were among the topics discussed at this event. Another aim of this presentation was to encourage students and researchers to utilise facilities, such as libraries and laboratories, readily available at the University to investigate the subject matters and effectively communicate the findings of their research projects.

Saikou Baldeh, the coordinator of the mini talk who also spoke at the event, mentioned that: “The event was very successful and beneficial to all those who participated. We are hopeful that this mini talk will help motivate us to become great scientists in due course. There is no doubt that lots of talents could be discovered through these kinds of initiatives. This is the first of its kind and we look forward to conducting one mini talk each month with continued support from the University administration. On behalf of the entire student body, I thank both the academic and administrative staff of the University for giving us the opportunity to conduct such an invaluable event and we look forward to your unwavering support and commitment towards our forthcoming events.”

Mini talks and scientific lectures always help students to interact with each other, which is a fundamental part of transferring knowledge and stimulating students’ understanding of subjects discussed at these presentations.
