TUMS Is Accredited by ASIC

Upon an official meeting on May 1, 2013, Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) got accredited by the Accreditation Service for International Schools, Colleges and Universities (ASIC) for four years, 2013 to 2017.

Regarding a two-day visit to TUMS schools and facilities by the inspecting group in November 2012, the international accreditation certificate was awarded by Professor John Wilson from ASIC to TUMS Chancellor, Dr. Mohammadreza Mansouri, in the presence of TUMS Vice-chancellors, Directors, Deans of Schools and heads of hospitals and research centers.
Expressing his gratitude to Professor John Wilson and ASIC, Dr. Mohammadreza Mansouri, TUMS Chancellor commenced the meeting saying that: "It is our pleasure to welcome you as the representative of ASIC to participate in TUMS Accreditation Meeting which is coincided with national Teacher’s Day in Iran."
"TUMS, as a Premier University providing quality educational services is now accredited by ASIC, and in this regard I would like to thank all the efforts done by TUMS Accreditation Committee and Vice-chancellor for Global Strategies and International Affairs," Dr. Mansouri added.
Rendering his acknowledgments to Professor John Wilson from ASIC and TUMS Accreditation Committee, Dr. Ali Kheradmand, TUMS Vice-chancellor for Global Strategies and International Affairs, stressed the importance of accreditation for international approvals for providing quality education. Additionally, he thoroughly explained the purpose and the value of accreditation, what accreditation is, why accreditation matters, how the accreditation process works, and types of accreditation in higher education.
Dr. Mohammad Sadegh Ghasemi, the director of International Relations   and Accreditaion in the Office of Vice-chancellor for GSIA, said that accreditation is another lens on the University, and the objective of accreditation is to bring international standards to TUMS and to admit greater number of international students.
"The process of Accreditation by ASIC included translating the educational materials, holding accreditation workshops, submitting application for accreditation, submitting self-evaluation report, undergoing orientation on-site evaluation, and making the necessary revision," Dr. Ghasemi added.
