The 4th International Conference and Festival of the World Network for Education and Scientific Research (USERN) in Hungary
The 4th International Conference and Festival of the World Network for Education and Scientific Research (USERN) is hosted by the University of Semmelweis and Avicena International College focusing on the most recent topics in five major fields including Formal Sciences, Physical and Chemical Sciences, Biological Sciences, Medical Sciences and Social Sciences.
At the conference inauguration, while introducing the capabilities of TUMS, Dr. Shahriar Nafisi, the Dean of the TUMS School of Medicine, introduced the TUMS as a leading university in international activities and announced the readiness of the TUMS School of Medicine for targeted scientific activities.
“The USERN Network was formed four years ago under the slogan 'Science without Borders'. By trying to break geographical boundaries in science, to conduct interdisciplinary activities and to establish a scientific connection between pioneering and young scientists, the USERN network has taken great and effective steps in the scientific community"; stated Dr. Nima Rezaie who is the Vice Dean of the TUMS School of Medicine and the Head of the USERN Network.
According to Dr. Rezaie, valuable actions have been taken towards the scientific goals of the network during the recent years, including:<

membership of more than 10,000 people from 90 countries,
-
membership of more than 370 of the top one percent scientists and five Nobel and Abel laureates as members of the USERN Advisory Board in 21 scientific fields,
-
establishment of a network of scientific collaborations among 100 scientific centers in the world,
-
formation of more than 90 educational and research groups,
-
holding of more than 500 scientific events,
-
and publication of more than 550 scientific articles in prestigious scientific journals.
In addition, at the conference, Dr. Ali Jafarian, TUMS faculty member and former Chancellor of TUMS, addressed the topic of professionalism in science.
At this international festival, for the fourth consecutive year, more than 10,000 young scientists (under 4O y.o.) were nominated in five major disciplines (Formal Sciences, Physical and Chemical Sciences, Biological Sciences, Medical Sciences and Social Sciences), and five candidates in each field were nominated by the USERN Advisory Board.
According to the judgement, the winners of this year's USERN awards in the above mentioned fields were as follows:

Lucas Lacas from Queen Mary University in London with a project in Polytechnic and Network Sciences,

Giulia Grancini of Italy and Switzerland with a multidimensional optical hybrid ferroelectric project,

Ajit Kashik of America with Biotechnology Knowledge for Health Care Personalization,
-
Ogina Morsley of Chile. Hypothalamic Autophagy Mechanism in Obesity,
-
Benjamin Savakul of Denmark with Social Justice in Climate Change and Energy Deficiency.
Meanwhile, Iran was from among four countries which were nominated to host the next year's conference, and Dr. Nafisi and Dr. Jafarian received the Symbol of Hosting from Dr. Rosiwal from the University of Semmelweis, Hungary.
At the final part of the first day's programs, the USERN credentials were awarded to eight young USERN ambassadors from England, Italy, Hungary, Tunisia, South Africa, Finland, Germany and Romania.
The conference, which includes more than 50 academic lecturers from different countries, has dedicated special sections to young lecturers (oral presentation or poster) on the second and third day of the conference to support student and youth activities, and the best lecturers will be honored on the closing day of the conference.
The conference is being held in Budapest, Hungary from November 8 to November 10.
