KRG Delegation Visited TUMS Schools of Medicine and Dentistry
Having visited TUMS Brain & Spinal Injury Research Center, the distinguished delegate; Dr. Adil Talib Mohammed, Head of Basic Sciences, Dr. Nahida Mahmud Ahmad, Dean of School of Nursing, Dr. Khalis Sabri Ammoo, Dean of School of Medicine, Dr. Hishyar Mohammed Salih Hussein Garmavy, Head of the Duhok School of Pharmacy, visited School of Medicine and School of Dentistry.
Being the Dean of School of Medicine for four years, Dr. Fatemeh Nayyeri rendered her acknowledgment to the guests as she briefly explained the history of School of Medicine as the oldest and largest school in Iran. Dr. Fatemeh Nayyeri focused on the different specialties, subspecialties and M.Sc. /Ph.D. programs offered in this School and the School's readiness to collaborate in all mentioned fields.
"There exist both classical and reformed curriculums in our School which are strongly influenced by needs of academic members and students, making education as relevant as possible for work, and we can offer the curriculum to you in order to help you to choose the needed training courses," Dr. Nayyeri added. Additionally, Dr. Nayyeri noted that they are ready to accept international students in all fields and all levels such as general laparoscopy and special laparoscopy for females, since the reduction of mother and child mortality rate is a priority in the region.
Dr. Khalis Sabri Ammoo, Dean of School of Medicine asked the questions regarding undergraduate curriculum, possibility of training courses in pediatrics, community medicine, postdoctoral programs, subspecialties, inviting external examiners.
Finally, the delegates had a meeting with Dean and Vice-deans of School of Dentistry, during which Dr. Fazel, Dean of the School and Dr. Nekoufar, Vice-dean of International Affairs took the podium to talk about the history, international students, international collaboration and research in this School.
Offering numerous dental courses including conservative dentistry, endodontics. periodontics, dental biomaterial, dental public health, community oral health, oral hygiene and dental nursing, Dr. Nekoufar welcomed all visiting scholars around the world specially from Iran's neighbors and he added that the School of Dentistry is ready to run the joint degree programs and short-term courses.
