Yalda Table in TUMS Dormitories
Yalda Night (Chaleh) is the longest night of the year, and special tables were set at international students’ dormitories with the aim of getting them to know more about Iranian traditions and culture. Student and Cultural Vice-Chancellor received international students at the table and started the ceremony by providing them with traditional snacks in packages.
The students also received explanations about this traditional ceremony. Eating watermelons, pomegranates and nuts, reading from Hafez and having poetry night are the usual rituals of this night and, of course, is an excuse for family members to gather around.
