ASIC Top Official Impressed by TUMS Accreditation Measures

The Chief Executive Officer of Accreditation Service for International Schools, Colleges and Universities (ASIC), Lee Hammond, met top officials of Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) on 31 May 2014, discussing the ongoing process of TUMS international accreditation.

 

 

Following the accreditation ceremony held in Iran on 01 May 2013, in which TUMS was accredited for the first time by ASIC, Mr. Lee Hammond took part in a meeting attended by TUMS Vice Chancellor for Global Strategies and International Affairs, Dr. Arabkheradmand; and Director of International Relations, Accreditation and Ranking, Dr. Nekoofar.  

 

At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Nekoofar welcomed Mr. Hammond and considered being accredited by ASIC as an achievement for TUMS. He further explained the measures taken by the university in the ongoing process of accreditation and said that under the leadership of Dr. Arabkheradmand, TUMS International Quality Assurance & Accreditation Network has been formed. He also gave the CEO a copy of the recently published booklet, which describes the efforts TUMS has put to gain the certificate of accreditation. Dr. Nekoofar also presented some slides indicating the accreditation process of the university in details and information about IQAAN Network.

 

The CEO of ASIC was impressed, expressing great satisfaction over the superior accreditation mechanism of TUMS and the feedback of the officials in charge. Moreover, ASIC top official stated that accreditation mechanism of the university will be published in the next edition of ASIC newsletter as an unprecedented experience.

 

During the meeting, other issues such as accreditation experience in other countries like India, accreditation standards and localizing the said standards were brought up. Questions and answers were exchanged in relation to self-assessment methodology, data collection forms, and interpretation of the collected data.
