On the 24th of August 2014, Office of International Relations at the School of Medicine held a meeting between its faculty and Professor Willem van Leeuwen from University of Leiden. Representatives from the school of medicine present at this meeting were Dr. Akhondzadeh, Dr. Passallar, Dr. Mirsalehian, Dr. Feizabadi, Dr. Tavakkoly, Dr. Amidi, and Dr. Tabrizi.
Meeting With Professor Willem van Leeuwen at the School of Medicine

On the 24th of August 2014, Office of International Relations at the School of Medicine held a meeting between its faculty and Professor Willem van Leeuwen from University of Leiden.  Representatives from the school of medicine present at this meeting were Dr. Akhondzadeh, Dr. Passallar, Dr. Mirsalehian, Dr. Feizabadi, Dr. Tavakkoly, Dr. Amidi, and Dr. Tabrizi.

 

Dr. Akhondzadeh gave a brief report of TUMS and School of Medicine scientific standing in the world and the region.  Dr. Tabrizi emphasized the importance of individual faculty members at schools and the fact that the faculty and students are the real power to guarantee successful start, execution and completion of joint programs between universities.  Dr. Feizabadi explained a new generation of applied medical microbiology and need of MALDI-TOF for rapid diagnosis.  He also expressed interest in rapid diagnosis of TB in this country.  Dr. Passallar explained the International Federation of Medical Students (IFMS) role at the school of medicine and asked Dr. van Leeuwen for any possible Erasmus Medical Center Grants for medical students. 

 

Further discussions between faculty members and Professor van Leeuwen will continue for exchange of M.D., Ph.D. and Post Doctoral fellows between laboratories and between schools.
