Thesis/Research Workshops

The thesis/research workshops were held in 2 sessions of morning and afternoon. The M.Sc. students attended in the morning workshop and the PhD students attended in the afternoon one. In addition to the postgraduate students, some representatives from different schools of TUMS were present. Since the transition from the ducational stage of the study to the research phase may be challenging to some students, and they may not be familiar with the procedure in the research phase, the office of Vice Dean for Research Affairs has planned to hold workshops about these procedures and make the postgraduate students familiar with different processes of this phase.

 

 

 

The workshops for this semester were held on Feb 12,2017, and the presenter of these workshops was Dr. Hadian, the Vice Dean for Research Affairs, and the  presenters assistant were Mr. Izadyar and Ms. Salehi.

In these workshops, the following topics were covered and comprehensively explained:

 

 

  • some important information about the duties of the office of Vice Deans for Research,
  • the process of proposal submission,
  • how to choose a supervisor and an advisor,
  • the process of thesis implementation,
  • thesis predefense
  • the defense process,
  • article submission and publication,
  • correct affiliation of TUMS-IC,
  • thesis budgeting,
  • ethics in thesis,
  • review of the guidelines and forms,
  • review of the contents of the Research Affairs' website,
  • answers to the students' questions. 

 

The office of Vice Dean for Research Affairs is going to hold such workshops in every semester, and the information about the next workshops will be announced on the office's website.
