TUMS Chancellor's Meeting with Sweden’s Minister of Health and Sport

On Monday, December 5, 2016, Sweden’s Minister of Health and Sport, together with his accompanying delegation that included H.E. Ambassador of Sweden in Tehran, paid a visit to TUMS Headquarters to meet with the TUMS Chancellor and other high-ranking TUMS officials and faculty members. At this meeting, the TUMS Chancellor, Dr. Jafarian, introduced the university and elaborated on the national and international achievements and activities of TUMS. He also mentioned the current and future collaborations between this university and various well-known international organizations such as ISESCO, WHO, UNICEF, IDB, IAU, UNFPA and UNESCO.

Gabriel Wikstrom, Sweden's Minister of Health and Sport, explained the future plans of this ministry in order to improve health services in Sweden and answered the participants’ questions regarding prevention vs. treatment systems in Nordic countries; Sweden's health tariffs and insurance system; the role of NGOs in Sweden's health system; universities and training hospitals; and the status of primary care for the elderly in Sweden. At the end of this meeting, various aspects of joint cooperation between Tehran University of Medical Sciences and the Swedish government, with a focus on short-term courses and student exchange, were emphasized and discussed.
